DESCRIPTION:What if the lost city of Muziris was not just buried by history
—but was waiting to be discovered?\nEchoes of Muziris by Saanvi Shabeesh
\, and published by Readomania\, is a gripping historical mystery that tak
es readers beneath the waters of Kerala and into the secrets of one of Ind
ia’s most fascinating lost cities.\nAt the heart of the story is Anju\,
a young deep-sea diver whose fascination with the ocean leads her to an ex
traordinary archaeological expedition. When her organisation is invited to
participate in the excavation and research of Muziris\, believed to lie s
ubmerged beneath the waters of Pattanam\, Anju expects to uncover fragment
s of the past. Instead\, she finds herself drawn into a mystery that seems
to transcend time.\nMuziris was once a thriving port city of the Chera dy
nasty and an important centre of trade between India and Rome. In Saanvi S
habeesh’s imagination\, this historical setting becomes the backdrop for
an atmospheric tale of underwater exploration\, ancient secrets\, mytholo
gy and danger. As the divers uncover artefacts\, inscriptions and remnants
of the lost city\, Anju begins experiencing disturbing dreams—and disco
vers that some of what she sees in those dreams may not be dreams at all.\
nThe deeper she ventures into Muziris\, the stranger things become. An anc
ient temple lies beneath the waters. A towering statue of Goddess Bhagavat
hi watches over its inner sanctum. Friends disappear. Warnings emerge from
the past. And Anju is forced to confront a question that has haunted the
city for centuries: was Muziris destroyed by human greed\, divine wrath or
something far more mysterious?\nThe journey of Echoes of Muziris is remar
kable in itself. What began as a short story written by Saanvi Shabeesh wh
en she was in Class 7\, eventually grew into the manuscript that won the B
est Manuscript Award at the prestigious JK Paper–Times of India AutHer A
wards\, 2026.\nThe AutHer Awards\, instituted by JK Papers in association
with the Times of India in 2019\, were created with a meaningful purpose
—to celebrate and amplify the voices of women writers across India. Over
the years\, this platform has grown into an inspiring literary movement\,
receiving more than 12\,000 submissions\, including nearly 3\,000 debut e
ntries this year\, recognising both emerging talent and established excell
ence.\nIn Season 4\, JK Paper introduced a dedicated category—Best Manus
cript—for young women between the ages of 14 and 18. This category was e
nvisioned to discover fresh voices\, original ideas\, and untold stories f
rom the next generation of writers. To take this vision further\, JK Paper
partnered with Readomania Publishing to bring the winning manuscript to l
ife as a published book each year.\nJK Paper in association with Readomani
a are proud to launch Echoes of Muziris by Saanvi Shabeesh at Atta Galatta
on October 23\, 2026\, between 5-7 PM. Saanvi will be in conversation wit
h award-winning author Soumya Doralli.\nAbout the Author\nWinner of the Be
st Manuscript Award at the JK Paper–Times of India AutHer Awards 2026\,
Saanvi Shabeesh is a high school student and an avid reader who has been c
ollecting stories from a young age. She loves to blend her imagination wit
h emotional depth. Her stories often explore resilience\, identity and bon
 ds that shape us.

DESCRIPTION:[TICKET LINK IN BIO] Do you know how many people in India suffe
r from mental health conditions? The numbers are concerning as approximate
ly 10 crore people in India face such challenges.\n\nDespite this\, only 1
5% of them are able to receive treatment with a tremendous scarcity of spe
cialist doctors in rural and tribal areas. While awareness and the use of
diagnostic labels to express mental health concerns among more privileged
is increasing\; stigma persists\, keeping many individuals away from seeki
ng help. \n\nTo be able to collectively think through the possible solutio
ns\, we need to ask some questions: Is mental health only about receiving
medication? How do social\, environmental factors shape our mental health?
Is this a problem of those coming from urban privileged backgrounds alone
? Can mental health care be brought to the communities? More importantly\,
in such a grim situation of mental health\, are there glimpses of hope? \
n\nWhile all these questions need deliberation\, the answer to the last qu
estion is... yes! \n\nFrom Dr. Mukta's research on community-based mental
health\, there is a lot that we can learn (and unlearn!) about mental heal
th. We’ll discuss the need to create supportive structures\, safe spaces
and communities where mental health can be protected and nurtured\, space
s where each of us can play a role. There will be case stories like\, dukh
u-sukhu baithaki from Jharkhand\, Friendship bench from Zimbabwe and dance

DESCRIPTION:Poetry\, Memory and a Conversation Across Forty-Seven Years\nAn
intimate literary evening with Sukumaran Menon\nDownstream — Poems and
Reflections Across Forty-Seven Years is an unusual literary journey that b
egan with 45 poems written by a young engineer between 1978 and 1980.\nAft
er remaining unpublished for nearly half a century\, the poems were redisc
overed by their author\, Sukumaran Menon\, at the age of 72.\nWhat began a
s an effort to preserve those early writings gradually evolved into a conv
ersation between the young man who wrote them and the older man revisiting
them forty-seven years later.\nEach poem is presented through a distincti
ve four-part structure: Before the Poem\, which recalls its original circu
mstances\; The Manuscript\, which preserves the young poet’s voice\; Wal
king Beside the River\, which offers the author’s reflections today\; an
 d A Reader’s Reflection\, which introduces an independent perspective.\n
The resulting book is as much about memory\, ageing\, understanding and se
lf-discovery as it is about poetry.\nRather than a conventional commercial
book launch\, the evening will be a personal celebration of the journey b
ehind the book. It will feature selected poetry readings\, an informal con
versation with the author\, an illustration of the book’s four-part arch
itecture\, and an opportunity for guests to share their thoughts.\nThe con
versation will be facilitated by the author’s friend\, Deepa.\nThere is
no registration required to attend\; feel free to walk in.

s a provocative novel that blends a slow-burn culinary thriller with sharp
social commentary. The novel uses food as a symbol of rebellion and sharp
ly satirises misogyny and patriarchy still persistent in contemporary Japa
nese culture. Inspired by a real-life Japanese murder case\, it follows a
journalist investigating a woman accused of killing wealthy men—and beco
ming increasingly fascinated by her philosophy of food\, appetite and indu
lgence. How does this book club work? We'll have literary ice-breakers\, gu
 ided book-of-the-month discussions\, bookish games\, and engage in a fun b
utter tasting segment to keep things interesting. You will also receive fr

DESCRIPTION:Last month\, a room full of people who'd never met sat in a cir
cle\, and by the end of the afternoon\, a simple dupatta had carried more
than any of us expected it to. Some people spoke. Some didn't say a word.
Almost everyone left a little lighter than they came in.\nWe're doing it a
gain.\nDivorce and separation don't end when the papers do. There's the de
cision itself. The legal process. And then everything after: the parenting
schedule you're still figuring out\, the money you're untangling\, the bo
undaries you're learning to hold\, often alone.\nSomewhere along the way\,
a story tends to settle in. That this is a failure. That it has to get ug
ly. That there's a "right" way to grieve\, or a deadline for moving on.\nT
his session starts from a different place: a relationship changing shape i
sn't a verdict on who you are\, and it doesn't have to look like a battle
to be real.\nWhether you were with us last month or this is your first tim
e\, there's a seat for you. Mid-decision\, past it\, or still finding your
  way in.\nThe Format\nThis isn't a talk or a lecture.\nExpect some movemen
t\, a few structured activities in pairs or as a full group\, and room thr
oughout to simply notice where you are. No scripts\, no performance. You d
on't need to prepare anything.\nWhat to Expect\nArrival\nCome in when you'
re ready. No forms\, no forced small talk\, no explanations owed.\nOpening
Circle\nSeema\, a Certified Psychodrama Practitioner\, who facilitates th
e session\, will say hello and walk you through how the afternoon unfolds.
If you'd like to share a word about why you're here\, you can. If you'd r
ather listen\, that's just as welcome.\nThe Heart of the Session\nThe main
part of the afternoon: movement\, a few activities in pairs or as a group
\, and quieter moments in between to check in with yourself. Nobody will a
sk you to talk if you don't want to. Nobody will ask you to perform.\nComi
ng Back Together\nBefore we close\, we'll gather as a full group to sit wi
th whatever came up. A reflection or a small gesture is welcome. So is sil
ence.\nClosing\nYou might leave with a bit more clarity. You might leave w
ithout saying a single word and still feel a little less alone. Both count
.\nEach gathering builds on the last. Familiar faces make the room feel sa
fer\, and new ones remind everyone they're not the only ones going through
this. Whether you were here in September or you're coming for the first t
 ime\, there's a seat saved for you.\nWhen: Sunday\, October 25\, 2 to 4 PM
Seats are limited and need to be booked in advance.\nWhat's not included
Any item from the bookstore or café

DESCRIPTION:Through real letters written by people across different places
and circumstances\, this reading explores the things that make us feel we
belong\, and the things that take that feeling away. Of leaving and being
left behind\, of finding ourselves strangers in familiar places\, of lives
interrupted by loss\, and of living in worlds that no longer seem to have
room for us.\nSome letters reach across borders. Others cross the distanc
e between people\, between who we once were and who we have become. They s
peak of loneliness\, longing\, love\, injustice and the stubborn need to b
e seen and heard.\nTogether\, these letters offer glimpses into lives that
may be very different from our own\, yet feel familiar. Because sometimes
\, even when we have nowhere to turn\, there is still something to be foun
d in telling our stories\, and in having someone listen.

owing up in a digital world where information comes at them from every dir

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the book discussion of A Moving Line \, a celebrat
ion of India’s rich history of visual storytelling. Comic creator and vi
sual artists Rahil Mohsin and Mia Jose will be in conversation with de
signer Kriti Monga to reflect on how storytelling in graphic narratives
have evolved over centuries and the many nuances and developments in it.
This will be followed by an interactive Q&A with the audience. Here are t
he details: Date: 31st October 2026\, Sunday Time: 6:00 PM (seating begi
ns at 5:45 PM) Venue: Champaca Bookstore\, Vasanth Nagar RSVP here to re
gister. About the book:   Stories\, whether written or drawn\, are always
moving\, reshaped by every generation that inherits and retells them. Ind
ia has a long and rich history of visual storytelling\, from temple walls
and painted scrolls to comics\, graphic novels and webcomics. Published by
the Museum of Art and Photography\, A Moving Line traces this history\,
revealing unexpected connections between works that are rarely considered
together. The eight essays and eleven graphic narratives in this collecti
on range from the timeless to the future-forward. Bringing together contri
butions by scholars\, practitioners and artists\, this book explores the m
any nuances and developments in sequential storytelling. A Moving Line ce
lebrates a medium that has always been\, and continues to be\, inherently
visual. Meet the speakers: Rahil Mohsin is a Bangalore-based comic artist
 \, writer\, and co-founder of Hallubol \, the world’s first bilingual D
akhni-English comic series. With over 15 years in comics and illustration\
, he has worked with publishers\, both international and local including S
cout Comics\, Scholastic\, Sufi Comics and Comixense and is a familiar fac
e in the thriving independent Indian comics scene. He has illustrated chil
dren’s books for Room to Read\, while Pratham's Fayu & Dariya Ka Jinn
marks his debut as both writer and illustrator. His work explores language
\, folklore\, memory\, food\, and everyday life through comics and picture
books. Rooted in his Dakhni Muslim identity and upbringing in Bangalore\,
his practice celebrates multilingual storytelling\, cultural memory\, nei
ghbourhoods\, and South Indian experiences.  Mia Shay Jose (she/they) is
a trans artist and researcher from Kerala\, currently based in New Delhi.
Led by a keen sense of narrative\, her work probes questions of gender\,
inheritance and embodiment in cultural stories\, informed by her lived exp
eriences of transition: of body\, culture and faith. She approaches system
s both through the lens of a transgender body and that of a legal research
er\, searching for a reconciliation of conflicted parts essential to the s
elf. Over the last 2 years\, this search has led to Negotiations \, a com
ic travelogue charting the policing of non-binary bodies across public spa
ces\, Regards Your Skin \, an anthology around self-policing and motherho
od\, and a public mural with trans communities in Kerala. Her primary inte
rest is in the physical body as the primary site of violence - inflicted b
oth by a deeply binary society\, and as a consequence\, the self. Across i
 llustrations\, writings\, collage\, installations and comics\, her works a
re grounded in the dialogue between constructed identities and policed spa
ces. Meet the moderator: Kriti Monga brings over two decades of design ex
perience to her multi-disciplinary practice\, blending artistic expression
 \, strategic design\, and hands-on craftsmanship. The founder-director of
the acclaimed Turmeric Design\, her work spans brand building\, book desig
n\, visual art\, illustration\, and mentorship. She also teaches professio
nal design and typography programs globally. RSVP to reserve your spot.

DESCRIPTION:Step into the vibrant world of Kalighat Painting\, one of Beng
 al's most distinctive folk-art traditions\, in an immersive workshop.\nThi
s workshop goes beyond simply creating a painting. It is an opportunity to
discover the story\, culture\, history\, and visual language behind Kali
ghat art and understand how this traditional art form evolved with changi
ng times.\nBeginning with the origins of Kalighat paintings in 19th-centu
ry Kolkata\, the workshop explores the artistic community of Patuas\, the
influence of the Kalighat Temple\, and the bustling world around it that
shaped this unique art tradition.\nParticipants will discover how Kalighat
artists moved from depicting Hindu deities and mythological stories to
portraying everyday life\, contemporary society\, humour\, and social obse
rvations. Through these works\, the paintings became a fascinating visual
record of Bengal's changing social landscape.\nA key part of the workshop
will be understanding the distinctive Kalighat visual language—its conf
ident flowing lines\, bold contours\, expressive figures\, simplified form
s\, and vibrant compositions. We will also explore how Bengal's folk tradi
tions influenced modern Indian art\, particularly through the work of Jam
 ini Roy.\nThe session combines storytelling\, art appreciation\, visual r
 eferences\, demonstrations\, and hands-on practice\, allowing participants
to first understand the tradition and then interpret it through their own
artwork.\nParticipants will be guided through the process of creating a
Kalighat-inspired painting\, making the experience both educational and cr
eative. No prior art experience is required—just curiosity and a willing
ness to explore.\nWHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE\n\nThe fascinating history and
evolution of Kalighat Painting\nStories behind its mythological\, social
\, and everyday-life themes\nAn exploration of the Patuas and the Kaligha
t tradition\nThe influence of Jamini Roy and Bengal's folk-art vocabulary
 \nUnderstanding of lines\, forms\, colours\, composition\, and expression
 \nA guided hands-on Kalighat-inspired painting session\nYour own complete
d artwork to take home\n\nThrough Hues by Sindhoor\, this workshop aims t
o make traditional Indian art experiential rather than simply instruction
al—giving participants the opportunity to connect with a living artistic
tradition through its stories\, forms\, and their own creative expression
.\nCome discover Kalighat—not just as a style of painting\, but as a win
 dow into Bengal's history\, culture\, people\, and imagination.
