About

Yana Tsegayinvestigates how historical and spatial regimes are materialised and experienced through the affective residues of a place. Working with installation, performance, painting and text, she examines architecture, landscapes, monuments and museum displays as sites where historical narratives, cultural myths, and relations of power are continuously produced and negotiated. Her work is rooted in speculative artistic research. Tsegay translates observations, historical fragments and material traces into painterly and performative environments.PLEASURE GUARDING, PENALISE PARKby Yana Tsegay is about gardens, guarding and intentional language.
