About
Join us for a conversation on the visual worlds brought together in our latest exhibition, Reimagining the Muraqqa.
Dr Ranu Roychoudhuri and Rucha Vibhute will consider miniatures, silver gelatin photographs depicting late nineteenth-century royalty, and painted photographsβforms with distinct origins that converge in the embellished image to generate new narratives. The discussion will explore how artistic practices evolved across media, shaped by patronage and circulation, and how they found their way into popular visual culture through bazaar art.
Moving beyond questions of influence and origin, the conversation will attend to the subjects, stories, and ways of seeing that emerge when these images are read alongside one another.
