The Journey Along the Memory Laneβspinning my way

About
Information storage has been around for thousands of yearsβinitially as cave paintings and carvings. Over the millennia it was done on stone, wood, ceramic and eventually on to paper. The seismic shift took place in the 20th century as it moved onto magnetic tapes, discs revolutionising the data storage and communication.
With the explosion of information generated, and the demand for ever increasing data storage capacity, accompanied by escalating energy needs puts severe strain on energy infrastructure and environment. A potential direction could be via utilising the exotic properties of superconductors to advance future storage and computing technologyβa way forward for lower energy operation while reducing our footprint on nature.
Join Jagadeesh S. Moodera for the talk, in which he will touch upon his journey along the memory path during his years of fundamental scientific research highlighting the evolution of magnetic data storage. The talk will lead you over his years of evolution in this fieldβhow curiosity and quest for knowledge led to the present, and perhaps into the future.
